Understanding Medicare Advantage

We are experts in Medicare Advantage. There are many national and regional insurance carriers providing dozens of different Medicare Advantage plans to choose from

Medicare Advantage, or Medicare Part C, serves as a substitute for “Original Medicare” Parts A and B. It is often referred to as the HMO or PPO version of Medicare in that, similar to an HMO or PPO, the insured must work within a provider’s network and has co-pays, deductibles and coinsurance to meet as health care needs arise. These plans often provide partial supplemental coverage, vision, dental and Part D drug coverage all under one roof.

Some things to note about Medicare Advantage Plans in New Hampshire and Maine

  • Many plans offer additional benefits such as dental, vision and hearing coverage not typically covered by Medicare or Medicare Supplemental plans.
  • Plan premiums are often very inexpensive when compared to MediGap and standalone Part D plans.
  • Although these plans have out of pocket costs Medicare caps the catastrophic one year out of pocket at 6,700 per year, and many plans have max out of pockets a low as 3,400.
  • Unlike Marketplace or Obama-Care plans, there is no deductible to meet before these plans begin to pay for coverage.  Although you will have co-pays, coinsurance and deductibles for various services, your full coverage begins on day one.
